Prioritizing Biodiversity Conservation
Our commitment to ESG principles encompasses the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity in areas where we operate. From developing biodiversity management strategies to minimizing our environmental footprint, protecting sensitive habitats, and promoting biodiversity conservation, we prioritize actions that contribute to the thriving and sustainable coexistence of ecosystems and communities.
Indika Nature manages and safeguards a sprawling 170,000-hectare expanse in East Kalimantan, serving as a sanctuary for critically endangered species like helmeted hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil), Sunda pangolins (Manis javanica), and prized timber trees such as bangkirai (Hopea ferruginea). Operating within landscapes of immense ecological significance, a substantial portion of our Jaya Bumi Paser site, spanning 9,137 hectares, is nestled alongside areas of exceptional conservation value. Here, we focus on cultivating Calliandra for biomass production. Similarly, our Telaga Mas Kalimantan site, encompassing 21,461 hectares, adjoins an area of significant conservation importance. Moreover, we have identified a high-conservation-value zone bordering our Trisetia Citra Graha site, spanning 7,040 hectares.
Protecting fauna yields multifaceted benefits, spanning ecological, economic, and societal aspects. By safeguarding vulnerable species and their habitats, we preserve the intricate web of interactions that underpin ecosystem functioning. This, in turn, bolsters ecosystem resilience, ensuring the provision of vital ecosystem services such as pollination, pest control, and nutrient cycling. Moreover, preserving fauna contributes to cultural heritage and spiritual well-being, as many communities have deep cultural connections to local wildlife. By prioritizing the conservation of fauna, we not only protect biodiversity but also promote sustainable development and harmonious coexistence between humans and the natural world.
